Internal Examinations

There are a variety of key assessment points detailed below however in general, your child will be formally assessed once a half term in all subjects. These formal assessments are marked and moderated and contribute to the overall level or grade that your child receives on reports. The feedback from these should be seen in your child’s books and folders on green assessment stickers. They are supported by on-going assessment and feedback in lessons and regular informal assessment marked via blue stickers. All green and blue stickers should contain areas of success, areas for development and a student’s response, please expect to see these in your child’s books and folders and expect them to have a progress sheet. Do talk to your child about these and if you have any concerns or questions about these contact your child’s teacher or the Head of Department in the first instance or of course their tutors, Head of Year or Ms Reece.

The assessments will be on topics that the students have covered in lessons and most will not have separate revision lists (unless indicated below with an *) however your child should know what the assessment is before they take it. Please encourage your child to be revising in the run up to assessments whether they have been given specific homework to revise or not as this will give them the best chance of achieving their potential. Students should ask their teachers of the best way to revise in their subjects or their tutors for general revision strategies if they are unsure. Assessments will normally be marked and moderated in the week following the assessment week however there are periods when teachers may be moderating assessments across a wide range of year groups so this process may sometimes take longer.
